American Heritage Committee

The African-American Heritage Committee of the Ocoee Region was formed in April 2026 to assist the Museum and Cultural Center at 5ive Point in gathering, interpreting, and preserving African American stories from the Ocoee Region of southeast Tennessee.

Committee Members

Tacia K. Green

Although born in Kingsport, she has been a lifelong resident of Bradley County. She is the daughter of the late George Price and the late Ann L. Henegar Price, and the wife of Lewis Green.

She proudly serves as Chair of the African American Heritage Committee of the Ocoee Region. Deeply passionate about community and local history, she is dedicated to educating others about the lives, contributions, and achievements of

people of color in the region—stories that have too often been overlooked, forgotten, or left untold. Her goal is to preserve and share this rich heritage so that future generations can better understand and appreciate the diverse individuals who helped shape the community.

Dr. linda Morris-avila

As a native of Cleveland and the daughter of the late Anna Ruth and Selma Lee Hall, I remain deeply committed to serving this community. I am a graduate of the Pentecostal Theological Seminary here in Cleveland, Tennessee, with a doctorate in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Guided by my faith and a strong dedication to my family and church, where I am an active member of the Fellowship of Praise Church of God, I strive to make a positive impact through my professional endeavors. Currently, I serve as the owner of Morris Consultant Services and am the founder of Neighbors United Counseling and Referral Services.

Kim Person

A native of the big city of Charleston, Tennessee. I have a keen interest in the African American history of this region, and I am honored to serve on this committee, as we endeavor to share the contributions of African Americans for the benefit of all people.

Ruth A. Ware

A lifelong resident of Cleveland/Bradley County, she attended College Hill School- grade 1 through 9. She is a Graduate of Bradley Central High School. She received her Associates of Applied Science Degree from Cleveland State Community College. She is a retired licensed pharmacy technician from Walmart. A member of Price Memorial AME Zion Church here in the city of Cleveland. Ruth has served on many community committees in the past. A mother of 2 children, Rochelle and Omar, Ruth’s belief is that all people should be able to live together in “Harmony & Peace”.

Billie Blair

I was born in Bradley County and have lived here all my life. I am a longtime member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and I was married to David Blair Jr. who passed away in 2013. I worked at American uniform for five years after my marriage and for 37 years at Magic Chef. I have two sons, Christopher Blair and David Anthony Blair, six grandchildren, and one brand new great granddaughter. I have enjoyed working with the Museum on this committee and look forward to a great many things to achieve in 2026 and beyond.

James & Shirley Morgan

James and Shirley Morgan have lived in Bradley County all their lives, they have been married for 56 years. Both are presently retired enjoying life as they travel the country together. James enjoys classic cars and listening to music, while Shirley enjoys studying and teaching God's Word and spending time with friends.
