Cleveland, TN (Tuesday, April 8, 2014) - The Museum Center at 5ive Points relies on volunteers for day-to-day operations of the Museum. Volunteers are the public face of the institution, facilitating a welcoming, friendly environment for all visitors as they enter the Museum, visit the exhibits, shop in the store, or attend a special event.
Several of our volunteers – Jeanne Sawyer, Lillian Gaines, Marianne Deitrich, Brenda Bicknell, and Fran Carden – have been with the Museum since the creation of the Museum fifteen years ago. Others, like Jacque Payne, are brand new to the area, looking for a way to get involved. “Volunteering at the Museum Center has given me the opportunity to interact with a wide range of interesting people, from out-of-towners, to the vibrant citizens of Bradley County. It’s been a pleasure to help make Cleveland’s history relevant and tangible!” says Jacque, “Donating my time and energy to 5ive Points makes me feel like an important part of the local community.”
Mary Lou Woods, best known for her work with the Bradley County Cannery is a regular volunteer at the Museum. “Volunteering at the Museum is not just about being ‘there’,” says Mary Lou, “it is an experience!” According to Mary Lou, the experience includes learning about our town and community, meeting interesting people, and participating in events that are taking place every day. “You really get involved with the people, and with the wonderful artists that contribute to our Museum Store,” adds Woods, “Nothing boring here. And I actually look forward to my days at the Museum!”
Join Jacque, Mary Lou, and many others as a valuable member of our volunteer team.
Volunteer opportunities include Visitor Services Assistant, Museum Store Assistant, and Events Assistant, as well as various internships with local university students. In addition to being an active member of our community, Museum volunteers receive various benefits including 10% off in the Museum Store, admission to select programs, and a Museum family membership after completing 48 hours of service.
