Cleveland, Tenn. (November 4,
2013)—The Museum Center at 5ive Points has issued a call for submissions to its
annual quilt show, to be held January 23-March 1, 2014. The theme of this
year’s show, “Stitches in Time: Hand Quilting,” will explore the simple yet
intricate art of quilting by hand. The Museum will accept the first 25 antique
quilts finished prior to 1950, and the first 25 contemporary handquilted
“Stitches in Time: Hand Quilting” will not be juried, and submissions are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Quilts will be judged by a qualified quilting expert for appearance, color, design, and technique.
Award categories will include:
· Viewer’s Choice
· Best of Show: Large Contemporary
· Best of Show: Small Contemporary
· Best of Show: Antique
· Best of Show: Duet
· Best of Show: Group
· Best Use of Color and Design
Interested participants should bring their quilt and completed application form to the Museum between January 2-10, 2014. The Museum Center at 5ive Points tells the story of the Ocoee region through compelling exhibitions and dynamic educational programming that promotes history, culture, and preservation. The Museum Store features arts, crafts, and books from select artists, craftsman, and authors from within a 200-mile radius. Hours are Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m.-3 p.m. The museum is closed Sunday, Monday, and on select holidays. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and students, and free for children under 5. Members of the Museum receive free admission. Group rates are available and the Museum’s facilities can be rented year-round for weddings and special events.
