River Of Time Exhibit - Available Year Around:
Teachers at any grade level are invited to bring their classes to the Museum to learn local history with a tour of the permanent exhibit, River of Time. This exhibit is a chronological and thematic overview beginning with our earliest Native American inhabitants up to the whitewater rafting events during the Atlanta Olympics. The tour is approximately one-hour long and is artifact-based highlighting five key areas in Cleveland's history. Available for grades 2nd and above.

Appalachian Days - November 2-5 and 8-11, 2010:
This popular interactive education program gives 3rd - 5th grade students an opportunity to learn about the different aspects of life in the southern Appalachian region during the early settlement period of 1830-1840. It is designed to meet the 4th grade Tennessee curriculum standards and includes many hands-on learning projects. From butter makings, to learning how to barter at the General Store, to playing old-fashioned games and singing songs, this is an experience your kids won't forget! 

Home for the Holidays: Turn-Of-The Century Entertaining and the Chastain Glass Collection-November 15-December 31, 2010:
The Victorians invented Christmas as we know it. During this program we will give your group a tour of the exhibit, followed by a hands-on Victorian Christmas craft to take home and a Victorian Christmas game. 

Civil War Exposition and Living History Show - February 8, 2011:
Living Historians, Steve and Alison Gipson present the causes, conflicting policies, and aftermaths of the War Between the States in an unforgettable two-person performance that is both educational and fun. The drama comes to life through authentic Civil War costumes and artifacts. This is most appropriate for grades 5 and 8. Three performances are held throughout the day at 8:30, 10:30 and 12:30 a.m..

Quilting - A Tennessee Art- January 27 - March 12, 2011:
During the annual Stitches-In-Time quilt exhibit, classes on all grade levels may tour the quilt exhibit and then choose one area of the curriculum—math, science, social studies, language arts, art—to explore using quilts as the basis of examination. In addition classes may opt to create a simple quilt to be hung in their classroom or do an art-based quilting project. This program is available for 2nd grade and above.

Colors of Spring - Tennessee Watercolor Society Art Exhibit - March 25 - May 20, 2011:
End of the year fun - bring your kids to an educational art trip to the museum! We will tour this colorful exhibit by local artist and discuss art concepts. We will then have your children do their own watercolors to take home. This program is offered for 1st grade and above.

PRICING
Group rates apply to prescheduled groups of 12 or more students.
Students :  $4 per student   
(Fee and reduced lunch students: no charge)             

One teacher/chaperone is admitted free for every eight students. For groups arriving by private car, the ratio is one adult free for every four students. Each additional chaperone beyond this basic ratio pays the student price of $4.

If your school system requires an invoice, the Museum Center at 5ive Points can send one. Check the appropriate box on your reservation form to request an invoice.

GENERAL POLICIES FOR MUSEUM VISITS

  • Chaperones should stay with their assigned group(s) and help museum staff/volunteers as needed.
  • Cell phones must be turned off/disabled upon arrival at the Museum Center and not turned on again until you are out of the building.
  • Please have students wear a visible nametag while at the museum.
  • Remind students of proper behavior for a museum visit before leaving school.
