Home School Opportunities
The Museum Center at 5ive Points offers a variation of most of our school programs for multi-aged home school students. We can also design a program to meet your particular curricular or fun-learning needs.
Unless otherwise noted, prices
for programs are $4 per person; one driver is admitted at no charge
for every four participants. Home School opportunities are
available for groups of 10 or more.
Offerings include the following:
River Of Time Exhibit, Permanent Exhibit:
See the description under School Tours for the basics of this program. Each of these programs can be adapted for multi-age groups. The River of Time tour may be scheduled at any time.
Home for the Holidays: Turn-Of-The Century
Entertaining and the Chastain Glass Collection-November 15-December
31, 2010:
The Victorians invented Christmas as we know it. During this program
we will give your group a tour of the exhibit, followed by a
hands-on Victorian Christmas craft to take home and a Victorian
Christmas game.
Civil War Exposition and Living History
Show - February 8, 2011:
This two-hour assembly style program is appropriate for students ages 10-15. Living Historians Steve and Alison Gipson present the causes, conflicting policies, and aftermaths of the War Between the States in an unforgettable two-person performance that is both entertaining and fun. The drama comes to life through authentic Civil War costumes and artifacts. Due to the length and content of this program, children younger than 10 can not be expected to sit still and listen throughout the course of the program. Please respect the needs of the general audience and arrange for child care elsewhere for younger students.
Quilting - A Tennessee Art- January 27 to March
12, 2011:
During the annual Stitches-In-Time quilt exhibit all ages are invited to see the quilts and then choose one area of the curriculum—social studies, language arts, art—to explore using quilts as the basis of examination. In addition groups/families
will do a quilt-related activity.
