Museum Collections

The Museum has a diverse collection of artifacts that document the history of the Ocoee Region. The following is just a small sample of the types of objects included in our permanent collection:

Industry:

From copper mining to major industrial enterprises, Bradley County has always been a center for trade and commerce. An industrial boom began in the 1880's and continued into the 20th century. This collection includes railroad related items, stoves, tools, and other documentary artifacts.

Archaeology:

This collection includes pottery, beads, projectile points, and stone tools left behind by Native American inhabitants predating the Cherokee.

Military:

The Museum has uniforms, medals, weapons and other military related items from the Civil War through the Gulf War.

Education:

At the turn of the 20th century, Bradley Countians turned their focus towards education. Artifacts include yearbooks and other memorabilia from local high schools and colleges including Centenary Female College .

Agriculture:

Agriculture has always been a factor in the economy of Bradley County . Cotton, corn, and wheat were the main crops. This collection includes implements, tools and other farm related items.

Settlement:

The favorable climate, fertile soils, and rivers encouraged settlement of the Ocoee Region. This collection includes textiles, furniture, tools, and other objects relating to daily life of the early settlers in this region.
