The Cleveland Tunnel Project 2016
the mystery continues...
Whether it's stories of the underground railroad, or where Julius Eckhardt Raht stashed his copper and payroll before he fled north during the Civil War, as a Clevelander, you have most likely heard of these "secret tunnels." As you can see, the tunnels are very real, their purpose and original builders, however, are still a mystery.
As of September 8th the tunnels have been re-opened for mapping and survey. The Museum has placed this task in the capable hands of Dr. Richard Jones of Lee University and a selected few of his students.
Our goal is to shed more light on its history, while keeping all you historians, adventurists, and just simply curious citizens updated. Keep a check on this page. More to see in the coming weeks!
