Stitches-In-Time Quilt Exhibit
Over 70 contemporary and
antique quilts are displayed in this judged exhibit, including a special
Quilting Your Faith Challenge. Quilts are from
throughout southeast. This exhibit is sponsored by First Tennessee. Quilt displays in the Lobby change
weekly. Additional sponsors include Lavender Lime Quilt Shop, Joe Hooper Insurance,
Jane Easterly Designs, Hyderhangout Quilt Fabric and More, and Kingsway
Press, Inc.
February 6
Beginning Paper
Piecing for Quilts
10:00
a.m.-2:00 p.m. Margaret McLaughlin will teach a beginner course on paper
piecing using a simple design. This class provides a hands-on experience
in the art of paper piecing, a valuable technique for quilting. A kit
with all materials will be provided. Attendees need to bring their own
sewing machine.

February 13
Circles: An Alternative Techniques
Class
10:00 a. m.-11:30 a.m. Karen Young will share alternative techniques
for sewing circles and curves, including fusing, use bias strips, and
gluing. All skill levels are welcome. Students can observe or
participate. Attendees need to bring t
heir own sewing machine and supplies based on the provided supply list.

February 18
A Culinary Evening with Chef Ceasar
6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
Spend a relaxing and entertaining evening at the Museum Center learning
new cooking techniques, hearing great live music, and tasting wonderful
foods prepared by Chef Ceasar and his crew of culinary helpers from
Keri’s Restaurant in Cleveland. The Museum Center will be transformed
for the evening into a cooking school where you will learn many exciting
and easy recipes that can be incorporate at home. Watch him prepare
several entrees, while enjoying live music, and eat what is prepared.
You will also get to take home copies of all the recipes that are
prepared. Reservations and pre-payment by February 13th .

Waste Knot Class with Phyllis Gatto
10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Waste not, want not! Using up your scraps with 2½ “ fabric scraps, one
considered “dark” and one considered “light”. You will create a “Waste
Knot” table runner. Select a striking background to compliment the
simple pieced knots. Choose traditional or contemporary, soft and
sublime or bold and bright fabrics to achieve the result you’re looking
for. Attendees will complete at least one set of 3 blocks, which can be
used as a table runner.

Applying Quilt Bindings with Xandra
Tarr
10:00 a.m.-Noon Learn
to apply binding on quilts, to miter corners, and to join the end pieces
to finish your quilt. A kit and instructions are provided.
Participants need to bring their own sewing machine, thread, pins and
scissors.
Reservations and pre-payment by February 23rd. $10- Members; $
12- Non-members.

Sunday Brunch at the Museum

Come after Church and
have a scrumptious and elegant brunch provided by Oliver’s. Listen to
relaxing piano music, hear an informative talk on Joel Huffstetlers’ new
book, Gratitude and Grace, and get a special tour of
Stitches-In-Time by Museum staff. Your fee includes the buffet, tip,
music, talk, and special tour!

March 6
Kids Amazing Appliqué Class led by
Jennifer White
Noon-3:00 p.m. Join art
instructor, Jennifer White, for this fun class for children ages 8-14.
Kids will create an appliqué wall hanging by using iron on techniques
and hand and machine quilting. They will explore color, contrast, shape,
and line as they design a colorful garden of delights for this take home
project.
Reservations and pre-payment required by March 2nd .

Needle Turn Appliqué with Margaret
McLaughlin
10:00 a.m.-Noon In
this beginner class, participants will receive hands-on experience
creating professional looking curves and points for appliqué, a
technique often hard to achieve. A kit with everything needed is
included.

March 22 – 27
Missoula Children’s Theatre – King
Arthur’s Quest
Children, grades
K – 12, may audition March 22, for this week-long children’s drama camp,
now in its fifth year at the Museum Center! Missoula Children’s Theatre
is the world’s largest touring children’s theater and has been touring
for more than 30 years. The students learn drama, singing, and dancing.
Saturday, March 27th , will be two public performances of
King Arthur’s Quest. Missoula Children’s Theatre is provided at a
low cost, thanks to grants from the National Endowment for the Arts in
partnership with the Southern Arts Federation and a grant from the
Allied Arts and Leisure Council of the Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of
Commerce. $35 for Non-museum members’ children and $30 for Members’
children. Ten scholarships are available for low income families. To

March 27 - May 8
Beyond the Pail: Bucketman Danny
Hoskinson and the Art of Fire and Plastic
A retrospective exhibit
of Danny Hoskinson (1956-1989) of Benton, Tennessee. This exhibit will
look at the career of this Outsider artist who worked with the
medium of plastic paint buckets to create sculpture. Danny's career was
cut short due to cancer, and the museum is hosting this exhibit with a
grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission, and local support from Cooke's
Food Store and Joe and Mary Margaret Stamper. A color catalog will
accompany the exhibit.
May 10
Sister Schubert Book Signing
2:00 - 4:00 p.m. The Museum will be
hosting a free book signing for Sister Schubert’s newest cookbook, Cast
Your Bread Upon the Waters from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Patron’s Reception to meet Sister Schubert will be held at the Museum
Center. Watch for more details. Invitations to Museum members will be

Volunteer Guild Luncheon Featuring

a.m., Mark your calendar for the Annual Volunteer Guild Luncheon. We are
so excited to announce Sister Schubert will be our featured speaker at
the luncheon. Known for her wonderful rolls and baked goods, Sister
Schubert will speak about her amazing success story from baking rolls in
her kitchen to her multi-million dollar business. Lunch will be catered
by Alshabibi Catering. Cost is $35 per person, $325 to reserve a table
of eight for reserved front row seation.

Wild River: 50th Anniversary
Celebration of the Movie
This exhibit will look
at the history of the making of the Hollywood movie starring Montgomery
Clift, Lee Remick, and Jo Van Fleet. The movie was directed by Elia
Kazan. Filmed on location in Charleston in 1959, many locals had
speaking roles, as well as roles as extras. Objects, movie stills, film
posters, and even a never-before-seen home video will be on display.
This exhibit is sponsored by Bank of Cleveland.
