Tennessee Archaeology presented by Andrew Hyder, archaeologist with the Chicora Foundation, Inc and former Tennessee Park Ranger at Old Stone Fort Sate Archaeological Park.
Join us on a guided tour through Tennessee's Prehistory...We will begin at the end of the last ice age during what is known as the Paleoindian period (approximately 14,000 years before present) and end just after Spanish contact during the Mississippian period (approximately 500 years before present). We will discuss specific Tennessee archaeological sites associated with these prehistoric periods. By the end of the journey, we will have covered 12,000 years of human occupation of the great state of Tennessee and gain a basic understanding of Tennessee's prehistoric records!
Andrew is a graduate of East Tennessee State University. He has worked in the field of Cultural Resource Management and Archaeology since 2005, during which he has been a National Park Service archaeologist, a Tennessee State Park Ranger, and worked for several for-profits and not-for-profit archaeology firms.
Currently, Andrew is an Archaeologist for Chicora Foundation, Inc. a not-for-profit cultural resource management firm located Columbia, SC. Chicora Foundation, Inc. specializes in the prehistoric/historic archaeology of the United States, cemetery conservation, and museum consultations.
