Chattanooga-based photographer and pilot Ron Lowery will discuss how he turned a decade’s worth of aerial photography into his new book, Tennessee River: Sparkling Gem of the South. In the aerial photographs of the book, Lowery captures all 652 miles of the river and its tributaries with stunning photographs through cityscapes and landscapes that tell the important story of the river.

Lowery will share a behind the scenes look at how he flies and captures these photographs that cover from the river’s humble origins in the Appalachian Mountains to its merger with the Ohio River in Paducah, Kentucky, at Mile Marker One. “While there are books on the mighty Mississippi River, the Chattahoochee and Cumberland Rivers, nothing like this book on the Tennessee River has ever been done before,” he reveals.

The new book will be available in the Museum Store and Ron will be signing copies after the presentation. Museum members always receive 10% off of Museum Store purchases.
