Come watch the 1941 film on the life and heroic actions of Tennessee WWI hero, Sergeant Alvin York. Learn about this and other wars in our temporary exhibit, War Memorials. 

At 5:50, we will preview a local 10-minute documentary that placed first at the Tennessee History Day Contest this year. The film Sergeant York is 2 hours, 14 minutes. 

Alvin Cullum York (1887-1964) was one of the most decorated soldiers of the First World War.  A recipient of the Medal of Honor and the French Legion of Honour, York is considered one of the greatest of Tennessee’s native sons. (Tennessee Virtual Archives)
